| Twenty years of A-ha has passed into history leaving behind great music and memories and it is now time for a new lease of life for the band. Celice, an up tempo track has a consistant beat carrying through. With the video being "take on me" part 2, two types of media crossing over, I wonder if they are trying to find the energy of the early days but with experience added to the mix. Sounding much better performed live, this song will clearly be a part of concert setlists for years to come. Analogue has so far been my personal favorite. Simple and precise. The melody drifting through the notes with lyrics declaring emotions. It lifts you up and carries you with it. I think this will be the hightlight of the album. When Cozy Prison was performed in Oslo, it had such an impact it left most of the crowd stunned, myself included. Starting slow and anxious it builds almost with a heart beat moving it along. Picking up speed, the song reaches its climax and then releases, exhaling and relaxing. An impressive song which could be performed with a full band or, if needed, it could be performed with one vocal and one instrument. A fine example of songwirting. Holy Ground gives a more uplifting brighter tone to the setlist. Good melodies but the middle 8 in my own opinion doesn't really work very well with the rest of the song. Some would say that is the idea but it should not feel like two songs stuck together. They should blend better. Having said that, this song will fit very well within a concert setlist. Keeper of the Flame. Another great song, performed so well in Oslo. When Pal took control of the piano we expected something special and we were not to be disappointed. I think the structure of the lyric is great and it fits so well with the music. Even Pal seemed impressed with the song and performance when he finished his piece. Having been received so well in that position will surely encourage more similar experiments. Kevin Deane A-ha Ireland |
